The cheapest and best splice that I found is as follows:
take a short piece, say 3/4", of the same copper tubing and
split it with snips or a hacksaw. Then remove a sliver, so the
piece looks like an extruded "C". Then roll the C into an o that is
small enough to fit inside the end of the copper tubing. (Make sure that
you use a file to flatten the ends to be joined so that you don't get
a pinch where the tubing cutter squoze it in. Once you get the
piece of copper into the ends, just sweat solder the whole joint and
clean up with a file or sandpaper.
