It could also be resonant effects between the pig's ballast inductor
(or a neon's leakage inductance) and the TC's primary cap. However,
this alone would not explain why, for all the different coils that
have been build: given their vary different ballast and cap values,
only this small range of break rates work well.  As Richard Hull is
quick to point out, it may be a synergy between many different
factors.
