The second layer would have very little differential of potential if
wound bifilar i.e. a second layer, wound in the same direction as the
first and connected at the top and bottom to the original winding. This
would increase the cross-sectional area of the secondary without
increasing the number of turns and seems it would boost overall Q. I
believe several on the list have done this already with good results.
