        Good advice for the uninitiated.  400-Hz transformers are
        used in aircraft.  They require less iron than the equiv-
        alent 60-Hz transformer would, hence a valuable weight
        saving.

        However, 400-Hz. transformers may be used on 60-Hz if
        appropriately de-rated (by a factor of 400/60 = 6.66...)
        and current-limited in the primary circuit.

        Alternatively, they may be connected in series (primary
        wise and secondary-wise) to achieve the same effect.

        Either of these or neither of these may be worth the
        effort -- depending upon the particular transformer and
        one's desperation level.
