60Hz Timing Light

To all RSGers,

This is cool...so go try it.

Take an ordinary automotive timing light.

Attach the positive and negative battery leads to an ordinary battery charger
output.

Take an ordinary extension cord and strip the two wires apart.

Wrap 6 or so turns of one end of the extension cord around the spark plug
induction pick-up of the timing light.

Plug about 200 Watts of something into the extension cord.

The timing light is now operating at 60/120hz.

This is very useful (at least as a reference) of where your moving electrodes
are in relation to the line voltage.

I haven't instrumented this thing up yet to see where it is exactly firing at.

It's funny what you can come up with on a Sunday - shuffling around in the
garage.
