Subject:  variacs

In following the list as I prepare my fist coil, I am considering 
statements made about a nst drawing more than it's rated ampapacity due 
to it's unrestricted load. If this is true, then I need to know how to 
judge the size of say a 15kv/60ma transformer in terms of properly 
determining the size of the variac that I should be uing. Is there a rule 
of thumb that I can use to determine overcurrent protection, variacs,etc?
