one more note on Kapton - the early DC-10 aircraft used kapton insulated
wire and bundled all autopilot channels together to save $$ - after a number
of flight hours, the insulation started to flake off, and there was an AD
(airworthiness directive, an FAA order) to replace the entire harness - a
very expensive proposition.
I believe kapton would be fine for control voltages, signaling, etc in a
non-vibratory environment.
As another aside, beware that teflon "cold flows", so if you use teflon
wire, do not tie the bundles tightly.
