Arwin,
   For the power input you have, I would think that you should be using
minimum of 18g wire on your secondary.  As for the breakouts on the coil,
could this be due to overcoupling?   Another possibility is that you are
operating on a harmonic of the coil's natural freq.  You did not mention the
capacitance, so this is just speculation.  If you are running at a harmonic,
this would create high voltage nodes partway up the coil, wouldn't it?
