Subject: A curious resonance experiment
Hi:
A sugestion of an interesting experiment, if you like to wind
-long- coils:
I found this picture in an old instrument catalog (Max Kohl, 1927):
http://www.coe.ufrj.br/~acmq/mk95939.jpg
It shows a small Tesla coil circuit, using an induction coil as power
supply and Leyden jars for the primary capacitor. Attached to the
secondary coil is a long coil with two wires running at its sides.
With proper tuning (that I don't see how is done), standing waves
are observable as a corona pattern between the long coil and the wires.
