eroded, but if I were to increase the filament
voltage I should be able to get them to emit. "

	There is a standard procedure to reactivate thoriated
tungsten filaments.  It consists of running the filament
as hot as you dare for a few minutes, then coming back to
normal operating voltage and letting the filament run for
a while.  Can send you more exact quote if you become
interested.
