Reinhard,
    I have seen a formula using  Watts = 1/2 CV^2  x BPS/ efficiency.
Rearranging the equation, you can solve for the capacitance needed for a given
input power, voltage and charges per second.   This will give you the maximum
size cap for the power input.   I can't tell you how to compute the efficiency
of the charging system.  I would estimate it to be about 50 - 70%, but maybe
others can provide some way to estimate this closer.
