The PCB Test
Hi Bert, All,

Usually, there will be a "No PCB's" sticker on the case somewhere. The
PCB's are around 1.55. Finally, there's the burn test - PCB's will not
burn.

If you do try this "PCB test", please do it outside. While Bert is right that
PCB doesn´t burn, it can decompose at the right temperature. This leaves you
with dioxine vapors which are not only highly toxic but are considered being
carcegenous.
I would even suggest wearing a painting mask (with charcoal filters) while
doing this.
This is one of the reasons why PCB was discontinued as a dielectric agent or
additive.
I.e.: In case of a fire you have a problem of firefighters and neighboring
people inhaling these vapors. I think the sniff test is a safer method and PCB
oil does have a sweetisch/sick smell somewhat like a paint solvent.
