Hi Ed,

I have a >1" clearance between my inner primary (5/8" tubing) and
the secondary form (12" sonotube). I did have to take 15 to 20 turns
off of the bottom of the secondary to reduce the coupling of my 10
kVA driven coil though, to illiminate turn/turn breakdown in the sec-
ondary that was occurring about 3 to 4" above the bottom secondary 
winding. So I ended up with the bottom sec. winding about 2 1/2"
above the innermost primary winding. I didn't have the problems with 
the "racing sparks" though. BTW, the secondary wire is #16 double
Formvared magnet wire.
