Toroid Construction

Hi,
 
I will soon build some toroids for my twin 4 x 23.  I will use corrigated
flexible black plastic drain pipe covered with aluminum tape.
 
For those of you who have built this style, I would appreciate some pointers on
how to join the ends to each other in a secure, non-lumpy manner.
