Here is a chance to save some dough!
 
Unless you need a receipt and have to buy new for some accounting reason, you
can do much better in the used department.  Keep your eyes open at Hamfests and
on ebay.  You should be able to get a 100 MHz dual trace Tektronix scope for no
more than half that!
 
If you don't need 100MHz, and for basic Tesla coil work 1 to 5 MHz would
certainly do, you should be able to find a junior scope on ebay for under $40.
 
Buying a signal generator in a separate box is probably more desirable in the
long run.
