Hi,

Sounds like your starting out just like everyone else here on the list
started out :-))

For a capacitor, use "salt water" caps.  These are just beer bottles with
salt water inside and aluminum foil wrapped on the outside.  the foil is
one terminal and a wire stuck in the salt water is the other terminal.
Tesla used these at Colorado springs.  Today they are other fancy types of
caps, but start with this just to get it going.  I would guess you would
want about six to ten bottles.

For a spark gap, just two bolt heads about 1/4 inch apart will do.

Once you get your first coil making sparks, then you can worry about the
finer details.  But just these simple things will get a coil going.  Once
you get your first coil working, all the other stuff will make a lot more
sense.

Be real careful of the high voltage!!
