Exactly, and the consequences are more than I'm prepared to take on. Also 
realise though, that if I stopped ot overanylize all the what-ifs in my 
daily life, I'd be in a hug-me coat with rubber wallpaper in a week.

I consider a Trained Operator someone who has actually built a coil, has 
working knowledge of EVERY part and knows the panel well enough to operate 
it in complete darkness. They also have to be someone with no emotional ties 
to me (though that's hard since I seem to incite strong emotions in people, 
both positive and negative :) ).

Yup.....1. Henry Transom, a master coilsmith. And he's the ONLY one I can 
get record of having died while attempting such a stunt.

Now shall I post the list of the 5,000+ people who have died while Rock 
Climbing over the past 100 years? How about the 100+ people who will die in 
the Professional Racing world this year?

It's ok to fear for the legality of the hobby, I understand that. It's ok to 
fear for a fellow coilers life, I understand that too (That's why I'm not 
doing it, I'm not fearful for my life, but the untrained 14 year olds that 
will try this because they got the impression from me that it's safe or cool 
because the Geeks did it). But please keep this in perspective. Coiling is 
one of the safest hobbies there are, simply because of the MASSIVE emphasis 
we put on safety. It's the diligance of the coilers that make this hobby 
safe, or unsafe. Electricity doesn't care.

Because you people charge exorbidant amounts of money for something I can do 
at home. How can I justify to pay you to come show a coil, when I can't 
afford rent? :)

Now, if one of you esteemed ProCoilers would care to donate your services 
(It IS a writeoff) to come to Kalamazoo and put on a show, we'd be happy to 
promote it. I'd love to see some of the toys you have, and I'm sure we could 
learn a lot form you guys. But I simply cannot afford what you guys would 
have to charge. That's what makes us on the opposite ends of the spectrum. 
You're in business to make money. I'm not.
