Ryan,

Before anyone can help, they are going to need a LOT more information. Such
as:

Primary turns, diameter, type, gauge
Tank cap capacitance and voltage (if you don't know, at least give bottle
type)
Power supply type, voltage and amperage

Now by lightbulb, do you mean holding a fluorescent or neon light near the
coil, or what?
A 1/2 " gap seems a little wide, but this depends on your power supply and
tank cap.
