If what Mr. Tandy declares is a possibility then all forms of HV equipment
sold on Ebay would be impacted. Or anything even remotely dangerous for that
matter. Any used power tools, for example, could be considered dangerous
especially if out of warranty. People want to live in a risk-free world and
without accountability for their actions. A woman sued McDonald's because
she burned herself with their coffee. And won. On a sun shield for a car's
windshield is written, "WARNING: Remove sun shield before operating
vehicle".

Most safety programs in the workplace are geared to protect the company from
liabilities. But it's human nature to break "the law" whether by decision,
carelessness or forgetfulness.

Insurances have become a complicated and expensive investment whether it be
for a car, for the home, for health or whatever. And insurance for tesla
demos makes up the greatest part of the rental for the demo costing
thousands.

Safety, I agree, is of utmost importance. And this List advocates safety
constantly. Even the sight of a tesla coil screams, "Stay Clear!". And
anyone who has witnessed a coil in operation realizes it's not to be taken
lightly. At least I should hope so.

As long as people can "pass the buck" for their irresponsibilties and dodge
accountability there will be that certain element of legal risk. I'm not
against safety, I uphold it, but there will always be that grey area of who
is responsible and for what where in some cases the decision/s just don't
make sense.
