cj,
you might strongly consider using a triggered gap for your new coil.
it has very little parts, is very easy to build and it works better then
any other gap yet conceived.
the phase relationship can be adjusted to match any coils "sweet spot"
and as i have been trying to show, if a vacuum or blower is used it will
first notch quench every coil giving the ultimate in performance out of
any design. once you try one, you will see why i say that rotaries are
not only a waste of time, money and unsafe, but they are obsolete.
just a suggestion but i strongly recommend it.
