Hi Brian...
balancing a disc can be rather difficult due to several factors involved.
check for these items...
1. disc is circular not oval
2. mounting plate is circular
3. electrodes weigh equally
4. the mounting holes are all equally apart along the edge and the center
mounting hole is
concentric to the outer edge of the disc.
5. make sure the mounting bracket used is also in balance with the motor.
6. check on the "flatness" of the disc ... does it rise and fall as it spins??
a simple item to determine balance is a piece of aluminum that fits the
motor shaft dia. hole of
the disc, a hole is drilled in the center of the aluminum piece and a
sharpend rod is placed
inside the hole ( BTW the hole is drilled to a depth as to where the bottom
of the hole is
approximately in the center of the mass of the disc) and the disc then will
show the heavy side.
there are 2 methods of balancing the disc once you find the heavy side.
1. you can drill material from the outer edge of the disc a little at a
time till balance is
achieved
2. mix up some epoxy glue and drizzle it along the "light" side of the disc
untill it levels out
