The best places to get NSTs are dumps... Really intelligent (and generous)
people seem to believe that when you break a sign the whol thing is
useless... I have found many a good NST this way! They are expensive to get
new, so always go for secondhand.
About Sam's design... very good system. I tried one of the coils from the
twin system and it wiorked very well. I would get a more powerful NST
though... 9/30 is a bit lame! Go for 9/60 or 12/60 if you can get it. Also,
you dont need a variac (IMHO). You can use a dimmer switch if you cant find
a variac. (I know people will tell me that a variable inductive supply such
as a variac is better than a variable resistive supply, but I find that I
can get more control from a dimmer :)

Jason
