Dear All,
      I see dozens of posts of this type over time. Some "what ifs" 
ask about safety, others ask "what if I do such and such". The safety 
what-ifs are a good thing to ask about if you have little knowledge 
and/or work experience with electricity, and you can bet your bottom 
dollar all your questions have been asked and answered previously 
with details contained in excellent FAQs in the list archives. 
      But the second type of what-if can be usefully dealt with by 
experiment. Trying things is exactly how you learn, especially when 
things don't go as planned or hoped. A recipe from someone else is 
great if all you want to do is build a coil that works OK (not a 
particularly satisfying approach for me I must admit) but if you wish 
to learn, try. Post the results if you wish. Let us all learn from 
your experience. If results are disappointing, make an effort to 
figure out why. If they are top notch, let us know about it and make 
a name for yourself.
