Yes it is possible.
I know that sodium (salt water) makes a nice bright orange arc, potassium makes
a purple arc, copper compounds make a greenish blue arc. I could dig up my book
to find out more but thats what I remember off the top of my head.

Dear all,

Is it possible to colour an arch by the type of metal you use on the
electrodes, as using gases is a bit difficult for a jacobs ladder jerry rigged
on to the top of an NST.
