Current limiting is not needed or wanted in a VTTC.
The nature of the circuit automatically controls the current.
An MOT is already slightly current limited, and for more powerful
VTTC's it's sometimes desireable to remove the MOT shunts to
obtain more current.  For a 4-125A tube, with a level shifter
(ac doubler), the shunts can probably left in place.  You should
obtain a 11" or 12" spark or so with a single 4-125A.  Using
(2) 4-125A's the sparks should be 16" long or so.
