Hi Ben

Since your father is always set up for spraying lacquer, you should use this
opportunity. Lacquer properly applied does make for a beautiful finish. A
good lacquer man or women can spray without producing runs. I deal with
furniture on a spare time basis for pleasure and opportunity to make money
for my HV activities. I have not lacquered any of my coils because of the
amount of time it takes to set up and clean the equipment. Also wearing a
breathing mask is uncomfortable. It far easier for me to use a brush and
polyurethane. For those who want to apply lacquer without spraying, brushing
lacquer can be employed. You must work fast as brushing lacquer hardens
quickly. It dries so fast that you are allowed no more than one rebrushing
on the same area to keep from dragging the lacquer. Brushing lacquer
contains so many solvents to suspend the lacquer, I consider it to be death
in a can---you must wear a dual-cartridge respirator. I can't think of any
electrical advantage in using lacquer.
