HBridge DC coil

Hi Steve
Before you tear that H-Bridge apart, I've come
up with a mod that almost eliminates all the
problems, and lowers ESR by taking the storage
cap out of the RF path. Maybe you could see how it
works for you - my coil really came alive, I'm seeing
20 inch single-shot sparks at 1 BPS at only 7500
volts in, and it starts firing at 3500V, very strongly.
Also I can ground one end of the primary, eliminating
any possibility of flashovers; it is much easier on pulse
caps; doesn't need a low ESR storage cap; and it uses
a charging choke to almost quadruple the voltage to the
coil. It retains the no power arc and no ballasting benefits,
and doesn't need more equipment than what you have now.
The downside as usual is complication, now you
need a DC supply, charging choke and diode, and a
rotary. Sure works well, though.
If you have MicroSim, I'll be glad to send a schematic,
or I can draw it out and scan it for you.
Cheers
Larry Robertson
