Albert,

Since of the output of a TC depends mostly on total power
input, such a scheme won't work.  The basic way to get 
longer sparks is to increase the input power, or reduce losses.

I like to use the equation:

  spark length (inches) = 1.7*sqrt input power (watts)

This equation works well for "efficient" TC's
