I built my first 2 primaries around an exact 4 inch secondary...
I am getting ready to build 2 more primaries
for some 4 inch Twins I am attempting..

The Primaries I built have an inner diameter of 10 inches 
(plan on wraping a larger diameter secondary eventually)
this leaves about 3 inches between the coils.
so
Decreasing the inner diameter of the primaries 
will increase coupling?

Should I drop the inner diameter to 6 or 7 inches
for the twins? 
which will not have a larger secondary to fit later.
