$80AU = $50US.. 20 l = 5.3 gal >> $9.50/gal

That's not quite twice the going price for that kind of quantity in the US, 
so it's probably not excessive, on the face of it. (Does the $80 include 
the GST?  Here, it's about $5/gallon, without tax)...  Given that the world 
price of crude oil is somewhat high these days, it will drive up the price 
of transformer oil, roughly in proportion.


Alternate sources for mineral oil:
Veterinary or feed store for large animals.  They use mineral oil as a 
laxative in gallon quantities for horses, cows, and the like.  Since 
they're pouring or pumping it down the throat of a farm animal, it won't be 
likely to have scents flavors or additives.


Plain hydraulic fluid (as used in tractors, etc.) is another source of 
fairly additive free oil.
