I used a short piece of heavy solid bare copper wire (#2 or #4 from Home
Depot) that fit inside the quarter-inch tubing.  Use 60/40 solder and a 40
watt iron.  It may not be ideal, but it worked.  Of course, only electricity
is expected to flow in the tubing.
