What kind of material is your clip made of ? ? ?
If its made of a high resistance material (or has corrosion) it may get warm
due to losses from the resistivity of the clip.
Your clip, though, sounds large enough.
I use just a simple 1/4" fuse clip to tap my primary and I run about 3.5kW
through it with no problems.
My clip lead used on my recent VTTC producing 28" arcs was a standard Pomono
Style mini-clip with 20 AWG wire (about 6 inches) and that doesn't get warm.
You definitely have some garbage in there thats causing a high-resistance
connection or something. A clip 2 inches x 3/4" wide should have no
problems whatsoever running at about
2kW (12/120 NST)
