Re: Input power measurement

Hi guys,

As part of my research at university I designed a true RMS wattmeter that
uses your computer soundcard as an input device. The only hardware you need
is a current transformer, a voltage transformer, a couple of trimpots, a
mini-jack lead, and a good deal of courage. The voltage signal gets fed in
the left channel, the current goes in the right, and a piece of software I
wrote works out the watts, VA, power factor etc. I haven't dared to use my
prototype with a Tesla coil because I'm worried about getting RF into the
computer and wrecking it. However if anyone is interested I could write up
some plans and make the software available for download.
