Secondary Form Material?
Original poster: "David Rieben" <drieben-at-midsouth.rr-dot-com>
Hi all,
They are building new houses in my neighborhood and this
afternoon my son and I walked into one of the new houses
that was partially complete to see the general floorplan.
While looking at the covered patio in the back, I noticed
a scrap 18" piece of appr. 10" diameter pipe of some sort of
plastic. The walls were around 3/8" thick and it looked si-
milar to, but not exactly like PVC. I was wondering what
it had been used for and then as I looked up I saw what
it was used for. The decorative pillars that supported the
overhead roof of the patio covering were made of this
plastic or fibergalss pipe. That got me to wondering if this
would make a suitable secondary form material for a large coil.
I'm not sure what it would be called but I suppose it would be
available at a builder's or construction material supply. I've seen
decorative pillars considerably larger than the 10" ones that
I saw today so it would seem that this could be a possible
source of secondary coil material. Anyone know exactly
what this is and if it would suitable as far as insulation
properties are concerned for a secondary coil form?
Thanks,
David Rieben
