Did you measure the frequency?  What was the diam of the former and 
magwire?  The number of turns or inches of turns?  Adding spaces every so 
often in a wound coil is an old trick that may warrant a fresh 
evaluation.  What type of magwire did you use?  I've had this idea for a 
secondary that is composed of, say, four 12" former sections, but not 
stacked, rather, placed around a central point, and connected (3, 6, 9 & 12 
o'clock).  I've got to do this experiment, if it works, I can reduce a 48" 
secondary to a space occupying 12".  Am I woefully misinformed with this 
pursuit?
