Hi all,
OK, I know the advantages of MMC caps but I have access to my dad's roofing 
supplies. What I think has possibilities for a tank cap is the roof 
flashing and a bunch of 1/16" acrylic sheet. The acrylic is cutoffs from 
previous jobs but a lot of it can be cut to a size large enough for 
dielectric plates.
In short, I may have the makings of a cheap cap, though big, weighty and 
oiled. But the stuff is here, will just a some work.
Before I even consider this I understand acrylic is "lossy" and I'd like to 
know I'll not be just wasting my time building a 40nF cap before I start 
something that isn't going to work.
