Good advice. Not likely but sure can happen. I've had three
explosions from this cause. Two were due to pulling a clip off the
battery while it was still charging and the third was caused by a
spark. (A single 2 volt cell feeding the filament of an HV rectifier
tube.) In each case there acid was splattered around and cleanup was
difficult.
