class c amplifier

Hi everyone,

im thinking of building a small solid state tesla coil. can you do 
this with a resonant LC circuit and use a transistor (or MOS) to pump 
puses into it (like a class c resonant amplifier). I cant find any 
tesla coils like this on the internet so i was just wondering if it 
would work? ( and could you uses power transistors instead or MOSFETs 
or JFETs?, (eg MJ10012 or 2SC1875))
