A number of coils have been "blown up" form explosive gases inside the secondary form. Many "glues" give off explosive gasses that can collect inside the secondary form if it is "sealed"... 

A "warning thing" about that!! ;-))

Turned my 3" secondary into a pipe bomb when a spark found its way inside the secondary. Luckily it just launched the acrylic end disc/topload mounting bolt into the ceiling where it stuck and scared the hell outa me with a really loud bang/fireball (think mini version of Dr.R's hydrogen cannon). Not sure about silicone or rtv, but heard that anything that smells like vinegar pre-cure is bad.

I'm thinking about using a couple of dabs of silicone
to affix the end caps of my secondary, but am
concerned that the dielectric might be bad.  I'd like
to use something that remains flexible so that I could
remove the cap if necessary.

I've also heard that out-gassing occurs as it dries
and that the residue might be of concern if it
condenses on the inside of the coil.

Need I worry about using this material in a coil?
