Original poster: "Mike" <mike.marcum@xxxxxxxxxxxx>That's how most usually do it, just the gap alone adjusted to where it will just fire, then set to where it can't be made larger. In a TC circuit it will be able to jump farther due to resonant rise (depending on cap size), just avoid the temptation to make the gap bigger. Unless your using an oil filled or otherwise heavily insulated transformer (pig, some pt's, custom units), the nst will fry or not last long if you do.
