Original poster: "resonance" <resonance@xxxxxxxxxxxx>I've used the 3600 rpm teletype motors to turn a 1/4 in x 6 inch dia. phenolic rotor. It works good. I used 3/16 inch x 5 inch tungsten electrodes. Stationary electrodes were also 3/16 inch fitting into 1/2 dia. brass holders to dissipate the heat which aids quenching.

I wonder if that teletype motor would turn, a smallish disk? Its rated 1/40th HP which is traditionally underated in those days.
