Scott,

        Do you have an ISO adjustment on your camera?  This addresses the
virtual "speed" at which pixels are captured.  It also affects the
graininess of your captured image.  You might find a sweet spot that allows
you to take decent pictures.    This is something that would definitely vary
from camera model to model.  Experiment if you have the ISO adjustment.  Try
this in combinations with the standard other adjustments your camera has.
And then don't forget to set ISO (and other stuff) back to neutral when you
are done.
