Subject: DC Tesla Coil Questions
Hi,
Iv'e decided to start on a DC coil project for my 2nd coil. Does anyone have
any ideas? Im using 2 MOTs in series, and a standard doubler. I have a
Maxwell 35kV 0.03uF capacitor, and using a 3000-3600rpm ARSG. So here are
the questions:
A: What happens if you leave the charging reactor or the charging resistor
out, and put the D-Qing diode in its place?
B: Is there some form of commercially available charging reactor/choke
because I dont have the time to make my own.
C: With SCRs/thyristors, does a positive or negative charge need to be
applied to the gate to turn it on, or any charge?
Thanks in advance for the help. Ill post up some pictures once Im done with
this coil.
P.S. NSTs die a bit too quickly. They dont like ARSGs much at all...
