method of rectifying the TC output current, to make it DC?

A series string of diodes will work. You might have to put them in a
plastic tube or under oil to prevent arcing.  Don't forget the equalizing
resistors across each diode. Ron Fleshman"

	Not quite that easy.  You would need high voltage LOW CAPACITANCE
diodes with FAST RECOVERY.  A vacuum tube rectifier of suitable voltage
rating would work better.  Note that a lot of high voltage [up to 50 kV or
so] power supplies have been built using exactly that principle.  
Resonant stepup [aka Tesla] transformer with diode rectifier.  Usually run
CW.
