Hello Steve,You can build your tank capacitor using overhead projector transparency film and tin/aluminum foil. Using the film as an insulator between the foil. I have done this for very small coils, however, it should work fine for yours. As for a variac, these can be found on ebay however, they are generally expensive. If you need less voltage than mains, you can wind a new secondary on a microwave oven transformer to supply your needed voltage. Good luck on your coil.

Hi, I'm Steve, just joined the list. My buddy and I are trying to follow theVacTesla plans from Information Unlimited to build a TC each. We've found out the components on the list are kind of expensive, and was wondering if there were alternatives out there. We need 0.004 mfd 1000 volt polypropylene capacitor 0.01 mfd 10 kv mica capacitor VARIAC 18 amp variacDoes anyone have any resources on either finding these, or building an equivalent?
