RE: [TCML] VTTC-My new tube coil
Hi Roger,
I wish I could find the link, someone had a warehouse full of Sagamo
transmitter caps. The ones with the big ,flat ends. They do appear on ebay
from time to time. Also the TDK UHV-9AT ceramics (strontium titanate) are
pretty good but have been pricey lately. Careful though, most of what's on
there are filter grade and would likely drift a lot from what I have learned
here. I have rat holed some stacks of the TDK's when there were a lot of
them on ebay.

Subject: [TCML] VTTC-My new tube coil
All this discussion about vacuum tube Tesla coils has been very timely for
me because I have been building one. It is powered by a single MOT with a
voltage doubler and uses an Amperex YD1150A ceramic tube. The secondary is
3.5" in diameter and 12" long wound with 28 gauge wire. I'm getting nice
20 inch sword like sparks and it might do a little better once I get some
more efficient capacitors. Right now I am using two vine bottle capacitors
( .0018uf ) and after a good bit of running they get quite warm. It takes a
lot of energy to warm up vine bottles full of salt water. Can anyone
recommend a good source for RF capacitors?
Roger
