That's your problem. Wax shrinks significantly as it cools, as you'll find out if you ever try making candles.

In both situations, the solution is to poke a number of relief holes in the top of the wax as it hardens. This provides a designated space from which the wax will shrink away from, instead of finding it's own places where you don't want them.

As the wax further hardens, you keep adding more molden wax, to fill the voids, until you have it under control, then pour a top layer if you want it to look pretty.

I did this on both my 15/150 and a 12/120 (both modified) without any problems so far.
