RE: [TCML] Source for 1H air-core inductors
Greg,
Your calculations are correct. I suppose if we could saw it in half, it
might fit in the garage. Trouble is, I would have to get a bigger fork
lift. I have a photograph of myself hanging off a 57MVA air core
reactor. Specs are: 34.5kv, about 8 feet tall, six foot diameter,
2250MCM aluminum, 19200 lbs....and it doesn't have a fraction of the
reactance of your 1Hy choke!
Henry

Subject: [TCML] Source for 1H air-core inductors
Hi All,
I can offer one potential source for 1H air-core inductors; two will
come free with purchase, as part of the NLL Project. ;)
Each of the NLL secondary windings will have an inductance just over 1H.
If desired, they can be arranged in series for 2H, total. The 1H claim
can be confirmed using Faraday's Law; secondary coilform dimensions are
29ft dia, 105ft winding length, and 1.8" turn-turn spacing. GL
