You were warned about that. An ignition coil is not "just a transformer," as 
you wrote. You can't just input an AC sine wave in and expect to get a 
voltage out that is increased by the ratio of windings. Please read my 
private email and get back to me and I think we can get you going.

Well I just tried the 16v AC into my 12v coil. I didn't get much out bar a 
slight crackle as I moved the wire close to the negative terminal. I guess I 
need to do something different. That was in no way enough to light up a 
spark plug!
