Because the large surge current, your performance will be better using 
bigger wire or tubing.  Some TCs have surge currents in the 1000's of 
AMPs, 10AWG wire would likely melt in short order, for small NST systems 
you can use 10 AWG easily, I used 14 for my connections for a while, but 
they do eventually get warm.  Then you are back to finding a way to tap 
what is now very small wire, and keep in mind steel alligator clips will 
get insanely hot because steel and RF don't mix...
